I am “Mom” to two rescued dogs, Princess and Ginger. Both were saved from a horrible death by gas chamber at my local shelter and are my inspiration for all things animal. They are the reason my fiance and I became involved in animal rescue and have impacted our lives more than we could have ever imagined. There is no love like that of a rescued pet.
My girls have a “brother” named Benjamin, a grumpy senior Chihuahua, who has dubbed my fiance as his person. The girls love spending time with Ben and pretty much let him get away with anything.
Other than being a really cool dog mom, I’m a college student majoring in Writing and Psychology with a minor in Linguistics. I work part-time (just a few hours short of full-time, actually) in an office filled with strange people with southern drawls and hobbies that include hunting and bird calls. I also do a good bit of pet-sitting on the side, and I must say it’s much better than my day job!
Occasionally, I also do some photography–both for pleasure and for pay. I’m hoping to upgrade the Canon soon. All pictures here were taken by me unless otherwise noted.
I’m no longer officially involved with any particular animal rescue group or shelter, but I help out whenever possible. I take every opportunity possible to educate people about the plight of homeless animals and why they should not buy from breeders, pet stores, or puppy mills–all of which seem to be a huge problem in my area. After college, I plan on starting a small rescue organization in this area to help combat the problem since it appears we will be spending the next several years here.
So here’s to my random thoughts on life. Enjoy.
